My First Day of Surfing

One cool morning my friend and I went to a beach to take surfing lessons in South Carolina.  Although I had no clue how to surf the instructors insured us we would be able to stand on the board by the end of the lesson. Once we got into the warm water I was nervous but excited. At first I couldn't even get on my feet. Since I couldn't figure it out the instructor took me on the beach to practice my feet positing to figure out if I was normal or goofy. I finally figured out that I was goofy footed which means that you have your left foot in front. The instructors were great and it was really easy once you got the hang of it. The water was perfect, it wasn't too hot or cold. I had all the support I needed that day from my friend, dad, and sister. Although I didn't get it for a while I was determined to stand. I finally stood up on the board! With the water splashing in my face and the adrenaline running through my veins all I could think about was the next time I would be able to get back up. I didn't know it took so much balance. Once I got up on the board I didn’t want to get out of the water.I was so happy when I got up that I hoped the wave wouldn't end. Now I can’t wait for the summer to be able to finally surf again.

I chose this story because it is one of my favorite memories from the summer. It was something I have never tried and I hope other people will have as much fun as I did if they try surfing. Although you may be sore the next day it's totally worth it. It was an awesome experience that I will never forget.
